The Triangle Needs More Voices

Calling all female and nonbinary critics of color!

In an effort to increase access to cultural criticism, a field which has always been primarily white and male, the Women’s Theatre Festival is inviting any female or nonbinary writers of color who are interested in breaking into arts criticism. If you have always been interested in reviewing, but haven't known where to begin, we would like to foster that. As critic Diep Tran says in the ATCA 2016 conference,

"Journalists do not emerge like Athena from the head of Zeus, fully formed and brilliant. They are nurtured and trained into being"

We would like to extend an invitation to those interested to attend free of charge to our final two shows of the season, Eclipsed (playing at The Fruit in Durham) and These Shining Lives (playing at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro), on Thursday, August 2nd or Friday, August 3rd. You may attend one or both shows. We will publish all reviews on our blog - regardless if the critique is positive or negative or prior experience as a reviewer.
